Skin Resurfacing - Post Peel

You may be a little red and swollen for the first few days. The strength of the acid decides how many days the skin peels. For mild wrinkles a light peel will be used with 3-4 days of peeling compared to a deep peel lasting up to14 days.

Dermabrasion does have a different healing process. It essentially forms a scab on the face which falls away once healing occurs.

Final outcome

The results will be seen after the peeling has finished but the colour and overall appearance will continue to improve over the first few weeks. The results achieved are maintained long term.

Time off work and socializing

Very little time will be needed for mild peels but up to 2 weeks may be needed socially for the deepest peels. There is very little physical restriction after a peel.

Time to exercise

Avoid strenuous exercise for first 3-4 days and slightly longer on the deep peels.

Driving

Should be avoided immediately after but should be possible after a few hours or following day. May take longer with dermabrasion.

Dermabrasion is similar although redness can persist.

Avoid aspirin or non-steroidal tablets before dermabrasion.
